The Oberli residence project was a renovation of an existing historic structure whose foundations date to the early 18th century, and which presented itself as a series of layers of advancing material changes. The renovation continues with the introduction of a new steel structural frame to support the floors and roof. The different materials are juxtaposed to highlight each other and contribute to the composition as a whole. A strong connection to the outside is maintained by numerous large openings, as well as the creation of framed views throughout. The minimal aesthetic allows the modern and historic material palette and the surrounding natural context to dominate the scheme.
